The Centre offers a range of structured programs including Learn to Swim classes for all ages from infants – adults as well as squad training and competitive swimming pathways.

OUR SWIMMING PATHWAY

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM

The CGGS Learn to Swim program provides a structured, progressive pathway from infant water familiarisation and safety skills, through to strong, independent swimming across all strokes. The focus is on water safety, confidence, correct technique and enjoyment, with progression based on skill development. Each level builds essential foundations that prepare swimmers for a smooth transition into the Squad program. Classes are taught by AUSTSWIM qualified instructors who focus their lesson plans in the individual needs on the swimmers.

In addition to our core Learn to Swim curriculum levels, CGGS Swim School also offers a limited number of Additional Swimming Classes designed to support swimmers whose needs sit outside the regular curriculum. These classes provide teenagers and adults a flexible, supportive environment for participants who are new to swimming, returning after time away, or seeking to build confidence and foundational skills without joining age-based programs.

Infant Sessions

Parent – Child sessions focused on water familiarization, safety skills and building confidence. These sessions introduce techniques that will influence your child’s water safety and progression for years to come.

Level 1 Seahorse

Start learning the basic skills of independent swimming. Swimmers learn how to move through the water on their front and back, be comfortable in the water and under water, basic breath control, floating skills, and water safety.

Level 2 Crocodile

Swimmers are introduced to basic freestyle and backstroke arm movements. This level focuses on starting to swim distances independently, with a strong kick, eyes in and bubbles, as well as a continuation of a focus on safety skills.

Level 3 Stingray

Introduction of freestyle and backstroke timing, as swimmers start to learn bi-lateral breathing. Swimmers are introduced to inverted breaststroke and dolphin kick, and distance is increased to 7.5m.

Level 4 Barracuda

Swimmers extend in distance to 12.5m, while strengthening freestyle and backstroke technique. Breaststroke is introduced, and swimmers begin to show greater control, coordination, and confidence.

Level 5 Bronze

Swimmers increase to a 45min class across the full 25m distance. Technique continues to improve across freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and swimmers are introduced to butterfly, expanding their skill set.

Level 6 Silver

Classes extend to 60min as swimmers start to refine all four competitive strokes. They begin learning more advanced skills, such as tumble turns, dives and overall race technique. This level focuses on building strong swimmers.

Level 7 Gold

Designed to prepare swimmers to either prepare to transition into squad training or graduate the LTS program. Swimmers demonstrate competency across all strokes, with a focus on endurance and technique refinement.

In addition to our curriculum levels, we also offer Teen Beginner classes for those 12 years and older. This class is suited to those who haven’t learnt to swim as a young child or who have taken a break from classes.
